My Approach to Group Classes

I strive to create a safe and supportive environment for group classes. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves while respecting their bodies messages. Proper alignment is encouraged to promote safety in the moment and long term sustainability of the practice. Yoga asana (posture) classes are a mix of skillful action and deliberate relaxation. It is rare that class will ever be the same twice!

“It’s always a joy to join Brett for a class. Her depth of knowledge and attention to her students make each class accessible and rewarding. And best of all, It’s fun!”

—Neil C.

Online Classes

Online classes are a great way to start or build your yoga practice from the the comfort and safety of your own home. These classes are live and offer quality audio and video instruction delivered via zoom. Recordings from classes are provided to all so that you can practice on your own time.

In-Person CLasses

I am an independent contract yoga teacher and I teach at a variety of locations such as Queen Street Health Colllective (McFarland House), Buena Vista Community Association and in corporate and private settings. In the summer months I love to teach outside in beautiful parks around the city.

kind words from students

“Love her calming voice and chants”

“I have done restorative yoga with Brett in person, and this covid year, both restorative and general classes on zoom. Brett really cares about yoga and her students, as evidenced with her enthusiasm, excellent instructions and demonstrations, and her emphasis on mindfulness and care of our own bodies. In this way she makes it enjoyable for all levels of ability. She also uses her creativity to make yoga accessible for those at home who may not have the usual yoga props. I am impressed with Brett and her knowledge, and love her calming voice and chants.”

“each class I take leaves me feeling substantially better off than when I began”

Brett’s skill and joy in teaching yoga shine through each class.  I have particularly benefitted from her giving me a number of new things to attend to in my poses, things that have allowed me to create better alignment, more spaciousness, and greater strength and steadiness in the poses. Amid the challenges of the pandemic, each class I take from her leaves me feeling substantially better off than when I began. She has also generously posted recordings of each class so that students can be guided through the practice again if they so desire.

Among Brett’s other strengths are her abilities to both readily adapt poses and offer alternatives to take account of specific restrictions in student bodies and to give instruction online while keeping students safe and appropriately challenged.

I warmly recommend her classes to anyone either just beginning a yoga practice or wanting to refine an established or long-term one.
